Soundcheck was built by a musician who just wanted a good place to play - and figured a whole city full of players wanted the same thing.

How it started
I grew up in the hum of a garage band.
I spent my childhood in rehearsal spaces - following my dad and my brother from one local band practice to the next, falling asleep to the sound of them figuring out a song. Music was never a performance in my house. It was the way we spent time together, the thing that filled the room.
Somewhere along the way, playing became the thing that grounded me - my therapy, my way back to myself on the hard days.
But when I went looking for somewhere to actually practice, everything was either sterile, overpriced, or booked solid. There was no room that felt like the ones I grew up in - warm, alive, always open. So in January 2024, out of a pitch at the Mizzou Entrepreneurship Alliance, I decided to build it myself.
Soundcheck is the place I wish I'd had - and the one I want every musician in town to have too.
Our mission is simple: give back to musicians. A place to practice, create, and grow - and a real community built around it.

Why that matters
Soundcheck was purpose-built by a practicing musician - someone who knows the difference between a room you tolerate and a room you love. Every choice, from the warm lighting to the gear that's always ready, is about atmosphere and community.
We're not in the business of renting rooms. We're in the business of giving musicians a home base.
